Strength Zone Reflection
2009-05-25 13:07:25

At the end of each day, reflect on how you have used your Strength Zone® successfully.

Start by identifying every situation that went well for you during the day. Be very detailed in this process. Don’t just list things like “the drive to work this morning was smooth.” Go deep! Stretch your thinking!

Maybe you completed a project today and the completion process went extremely well. Maybe you started a project today and kicking off this project went well and was very energizing. Perhaps you were able to successfully deal with a tough HR issue or an aggressive client or maybe you made 10 cold calls that went extremely well out of the 20 calls that you made today. Maybe you met with a client and sorted out a sales order that went wrong or you provided some creative insight for a website, book or advertising campaign. Whatever happened, list it out with some details.

Then ask yourself why did it go well? How did I feel? What actions did I take that I did or didn’t take in the past? How did I apply my strengths and what were the specific outcomes. What did I avoid doing that I might have done in the past?

Now ask yourself, “Can I leverage this knowledge to take advantage of my strengths in other areas of my life?”

Use the output of this reflective thinking to help you redefine your approach to each role in your life to take advantage of these insights and your Strength Zone®.
